About Me

A mover

I have been studying movement all my life.

From a tender age, I began observing movers - how the best dancers dance, how actors act, how atheles jump, how action is created and how movement flow.

I was so intrigued by the way these people move that I had trained myself to emulate them, and to receive training in order to learn more techniques in recreating them.

It didn't take me long to understand that there is a state of being that these people embodied - a presence, a state of mind - that drives them to move the way they do - and this state of being, is beyond what is taught in most lessons. In fact, it is the essense in which most people have missed when devloping their own performance.

In my career as a dance teacher, I had taught this method to my students in rehearsing for their dances. The difference is between a mediocre or purely technical performance, versus an emotionally impactful performance.

I revel in art - I sing, play music, draw, paint, occasionally build or sculpt things, and I aspire to act.

But I love dance, because I had found it to be the most effective outlet of expression.

Is is physical, musical, imaginative and visual. It is time, energy, body, space and relationships.

A philosophy of movement

The most beautiful aspect of learning dance is the difference in attitude towards the body and towards movement.

Dance movements are gentle. They are not foced. It is guided and allowed to move and to be healthy, vital. Movement comes, when you allow it. There should be no unnecessary pain.
Loving our body, treating it with kindness and respect will help it do what it should do.

Dance develops true strength. True strength is not tight, it is not rigid. It is supple, flexible, and long. It is able to stretch itself far, yet hold its form well. It is not the same as many other training offers. It is the strength in movement, not in static. The body is designed to move. It is the most ideal for the body.

Creating dance

As anything in this world, creation should not be limited to anyone.

Everyone takes part in the process of creation and development of one thing. This wisdom had been passed to me by my teacher, and I in turn pass it on to my students.

Creativity has no limits. It has no boundaries in style, it has no fashion. The best works of art are always timeless. And so I aim my work to be.

I love my classics, I love my MTVs, I love the odd and the random, and they all can coexist in harmony, if we allow them.

Teaching dance

Teaching dance is something that I had-to-do.

I believe that everyone can dance. Every baby is born able to dance. They just stopped dancing as they grow up. Everyone can be taught to remember again, what is it like to dance. I am a teacher. A teacher does not give up on her students.

It gets personal

Emotional interaction is the extra zest in my teaching. I will get personal, if you allow me to.

There are times when things that happen in your life may stop you from moving the way you want.

I want to help you overcome it. I want to teach you how to work with your body and mind, the way I did.

I have helped dozens of students achieve a high level of performance quality, even as amateurs, by applying emotional techniques in my teaching and rehearsals.

I understand that everyone has unique challenges, and how personal coaching can help you to your own obstacles - bodily, mentally and emotionally.

Who am I?

I see myself as a artist, a life-long learner and teacher.

There is an artist inside everyone of us. If you would allow me, I would help you draw out the inner artist inside of you.

I hope to be able to work with you soon.

Love,

Jennifer
